Girls Winter Classic Results

01/30/2007 -- The Chicago Magic U13 and U15 Girl teams came up victorious during the Winter Classic and College Showcase. "It's nice to see the girl teams do well also," said Scott Fonfara Chicago Magic Girls Director, "I know many college coaches that have already begun to take interest in our players through this indoor showcase."

Super Y-League Select Teams Announced

01/28/2007 -- Over the course of the season, the top Super Y-League players were selected by the ODP Scouting System to attend the ODP National Camp for Girls this past weekend. Erin Beck and Jill Dunn were chosen for the SYL select team during an intense three-day combine at the ODP National Camp, where they were evaluated by ODP Staff Coaches and US Soccer National Coaching Staff.

Two Starts = Two Wins for Quavas Kirk and the U.S. U-20 MNT

01/21/2007 -- Already qualified for their record-setting sixth straight FIFA U-20 World Cup due to the result the night ' s earlier match, the U.S. won Group A of the CONCACAF Final Round Qualifying Tournament with Quavas Kirk once again starting at right back. The US won with a 5-0 victory against Panama in front of a sea of red at Rommel Fernandez Stadium in Panama City , Panama .

SYL Select Teams Include 7 Magic Players

01/21/2007 -- Super Y-League ODP National Camps for their U15-U17 boys wrapped up today at the Cocoa Expo Center in Cocoa , Florida. Selected players were placed on either a red or white select team and the boys enjoyed a full-sided, full-length match with the best players in the nationwide league. This final 40 player pools included the following Chicago Magic players: Kevin Bick, Andrew Duran, Raphael Martinez, Cody Stanley, John Supica, Milan Tica and Paul Tracy.

Boys Winter Classic Results

01/16/2007 -- The Chicago Magic U13, U14, U15, U16, U17 and U18 teams all came up victorious during the Winter Classic and College Showcase. "It's nice to see the teams do well," said John Hannan Chicago Magic Assistant Director, "but what is even more important was seeing many college coaches take interest in many of our players through this indoor showcase." Also on hand during the event was the "adidas truck". Kids and adults alike enjoyed playing the latest games and checking out the latest gear from adidas.

Beckham Comes to US!

01/12/2007 -- English superstar David Beckham will be coming to Major League Soccer this summer. Many questions were asked on what sort of impact it will have on the state of the game overall in the U.S. Our own Quavas Kirk had a great tongue in cheek response, "It's awesome that Beckham is coming, but he's going to take my number!" Quavas Kirk's number is 23 with the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Three Magic Players Going to Costa Rica

01/10/2007 -- The Region II 1989 ODP staff have selected players for their upcoming trip to Costa Rica . Included in this tour are Magic's very own Andrew Duran, Raphael Martinez and Aaron Nichols.

Magic Included in U18 National Team

01/09/2007 -- The U.S. Under-18 Men's National Team finished up their weeklong camp from Jan. 2-8 at The Home Depot Center in Carson , Calif. Participating in the camp was Magic player Ross LaBeaux. During the camp, the side played one game, defeating Inter-America S.L., 3-1, on Jan. 6 at the HDC.

Rongen Names Magic Player to U20 National Team

01/08/2007 -- United States Under-20 Men's National Team head coach Thomas Rongen has named the 20-man roster that will represent the U.S. in Group A of the CONCACAF Under-20 Final Round Qualifying Tournament from Jan. 17-21 at Rommel Fernandez Stadium in Panama City , Panama . Included on the roster is Chicago Magic Alum Quavas Kirk, who now plays for the Los Angeles Galaxy. "We've looked at a large number of players during the past year and believe that the 20 we've chosen to represent the U.S. in qualifying will provide us with the best chance of qualifying for our sixth straight World Cup," said Rongen, who is attempting to qualify a second U.S. Under-20 team to a World Cup after leading his first as head coach in 2003.

Dallas Cup Invites Five Magic Teams

01/04/ 2007 -- Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXVIII (April1 - April 8, 2007) offers the most competitive international youth soccer in North America . The Dallas Cup is by invitation only and teams are selected for invitation based on their competitive performance. This year five Chicago Magic boy's teams have been invited to participate. The U14, U15, U16, U17 and U18's will share the excitement of world class competition, make new soccer friends and enjoy a fun-filled week of activities.

Nation's Top Boys Invited to Elite Competition

01/03/2007 -- The annual US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) Boys 1989 Winter Interregional is scheduled to be in Chula Vista , CA . Included on the roster are Magic's very own Andrew Duran, Raphael Martinez, and Aaron Nichols. Teams will arrive on January 4th, for training, with competition play beginning on the 5th and running through Sunday, January 7th. These athletes will be exposed to the nation's best coaches, trainers and facilities.

Disney Soccer Showcase Recap

01/02/2007 -- Disney's Soccer Showcase presented by adidas is the premier boys and girls college recruiting tournament in the United States . Attended by more than 400 teams each December, this event has quickly become known for its high quality competition, world-class fields of play, and top-notch organization. But the real accolades are for the players who get to compete for scholarships in front of hundreds of college coaches. Our U18 boys reached the finals of the competition, losing 1-0 in the championship match and our U17 girls lost in a PK shootout with the eventual champion Dallas Texans. In the International Showcase Flight, Kevin Bick and the 1990 Region II ODP team went 2-1-1.

Ring out the Old and Ring in the New!!

01/01/2007 -- There has never been a more exciting time than this to be involved with the Magic. Chicago Magic SC teams have won many national, regional and state championships including three SYL titles just this past year! They have again been named the #1 program by both Soccer America and the SYL. Brendan King is invited to residency. Numerous players have achieved success in ODP. High School Seniors are selecting their college of choice, with 13 of the current U18's already receiving scholarships, with many more to come. Fields are ready for action at our new tournament complex in Merrillville, IN. The list goes on and on. While this in itself may be impressive, it goes far beyond winning soccer games. The club is thankful for their players, parents, coaches and sponsors. May health, happiness and good times greet each of you every day of the New Year.

2006 Youth All-American Teams Announced

12/31/2006 -- The NSCAA have named their NSCAA/adidas Youth All-American Teams. The honorees will be invited to the NSCAA All-America Luncheon, which will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13, as part of the 2007 NSCAA Convention in Indianapolis , IN. The boys team includes five Magic players: Andrew Adlard, Andrew Duran, Brendan King, Josh Lambo, and Raphael Martinez. Andrew Duran was also selected as a 2006 High School All-American. The girls side includes standout Magic player Whitney Sharpe.

Magic Alum Named to U-20 MNT Florida Camp Roster

12/09/2006 -- United States Under-20 Men's National Team head coach Thomas Rongen named the 26 players that will participate in the team's upcoming training camp from Dec. 12-23 at IMG Academy in Bradenton , Fla . Participating in the camp will be Magic's very own, Quavas Kirk. The 12-day camp marks the final time the Under-20s will be together before Rongen names his final 20-player roster for the 2007 CONCACAF Final Round Qualifying Tournament, which will take place from Jan. 17-21 in Panama City , Panama.

Magic Players Invited to US Residency Scrimmages

12/07/2006 -- Magic players are involved on many levels with the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program and Illinois ODP is no exception. Illinois ODP has invited a select group of players to participate in scrimmages held January 12th -15th. Ryan Foreman, Philip Galounis, Andrew Menendez, Bob Novak, Tom Serratore, and Tim Zimmer will travel to Bradenton , Florida and face off against sides comprised of the U-17 US residency team.

Adidas International Tournament Roster Announced

12/06/2006 -- Kevin Bick of the Chicago Magic 90/91's has been selected to the 1990 Region II ODP team for the Adidas International Tournament which will be held in conjunction with Disney's Soccer Showcase. Disney's Soccer Showcase presented by Adidas is a premier soccer event, with world-class fields and intense competition against some of the best youth teams from across the US. The Magic are sending the 16 Boys, 18 Boys, 15 Girls, 16 Girls and 17 Girls with the hopes of exposing our talent to the over 500 attending college coaches. The Boys' competition will start on December 27th and finish December 30th. From December 30th to January 2nd will be the Girls' competition. The split format between the Boys and Girls allows more teams the opportunity to experience the exhilaration of Disney's Soccer Showcase presented by Adidas.

Chicago Magic Recognized as #1 in the Nation

12/05/2006 -- United Soccer Leagues announced today the final Super Y-League First and Second 11 Club rankings for the 2006 season. For the second consecutive season the Chicago Magic finished with the highest club ranking for the Super Y-League season. Out of the 63 clubs that met the minimum criteria for the overall table, the Magic are first with an overall score of 86.0. The club advanced a total of six teams to the 2006 Super Y-League North American Finals, winning championships in the U14B, U15B and U16G brackets.

Magic Alumni to Train in England

12/01/2006 -- Members of Major League Soccer's Generation adidas program, the top young players in the league, will journey to England from Dec. 1-10 in a training trip that will include matches against reserve teams of some of that nation's top clubs. These top young players include two Magic Alumni, Goalkeeper Brad Guzan and Midfielder Quavas Kirk. The participants will also get to experience soccer at the highest level, as they will attend a UEFA Champions League match and two English Premier League matches.

All-SYL League MVP's Announced

12/01/2006 -- The United Soccer League's Super Y-League announced the selections for the 2006 Super Y-League North American Finals Teams. First and Second team selections represent the top individual performances of players who continued their regional achievements with success at the top youth soccer league in North America. Congratulations to the eleven Chicago Magic players making the list including Jesse Ortiz who was named U14 Boys MVP. Players selected to the All-Super Y-League North American Finals First Team earn invitations to the Super Y-League ODP National Camp, where they will be further evaluated by US National Team Staff.
