Mike Matkovich to Coach U15 National Team
11/30/2006 -- Coach Matkovich returns to Florida yet again this year, this time as a coach for the Under-15 Boys' National Team. The 2006 Nike Friendlies will take place December 7-10 at IMG Academy in Bradenton , FL . Competing with the Under-15 Boys' National Team is standout Magic player, Perry Kitchen. The U-15 team representing U.S. Soccer will be made of primarily players born in 1992 and will be divided equally to play as the U-15 Blue and U-15 White teams.
U17 Boys & Girls Headed to Final Four Showcases
11/29/2006 -- The Final Four Showcases will begin this weekend and lead up to the NCAA National Championship games on Sunday, December 3. The Final Four Showcase will be held in St. Louis , MO for the boys and in Cary , NC for the girls. The Final Four Showcases are a great addition to a youth soccer player's resume as the tournament is highly selective. The Magic is very proud to be represented on both the girls and boys sides.
The MAGIC of Christmas
11/28/2006 -- The Chicago Magic Soccer Club would like to invite you to participate in our Annual Christmas Gift Program. Since 2000, we have teamed up with MorningStar Mission Ministries of Joliet for our holiday program in helping to provide Christmas gifts for the needy children that they serve in our surrounding areas. Any and all gifts would be greatly appreciated. We are all very fortunate to have families who care and are able to provide for and spend the holiday season with. Let us share this blessing with others.
Thanksgiving Feast for Magic
11/27/ 2006 -- Many of the same Chicago Magic players that were crowned in the SYL North American Finals also participated in the ODP Thanksgiving Inter-regionals in Orlando , FL . Chicago Magic coach Mike Matkovich coached the 1990 Region II team to a 2-0-1 record that included Magic players Kevin Bick and Brendan King. Brendan was also named 1990 All American. On the 1992 side Jacob Bushue, AJ Corrado, Perry Kitchen and Dylan Mares participated with a 0-2-1 record.
Magic Earns the Triple Crown!
11/21/2006 -- The Chicago Magic Soccer Club found three reasons to celebrate at the Super Y-League 2006 North American Finals. The first came from the U16 girls as they claimed victory with a 2-1 score over the Wolfpack Blue; the second came when the U15 boys earned their crown with a 2-0 win over LAFC; and the third came when the U14 boys scored late in the second half giving them the trophy with a 2-1 win over the Red Bulls. "It was a good day, we're going to go play the lottery now," said Mike Matkovich CMSC Director. "I think in this day and age in youth soccer it is getting harder and harder to win championships and to win three in one day is a tribute to everyone involved with the club."
Red Bull National League Kicks Off
11/20/2006 -- The newly formed Red Bull National League 17 brought together the top Under-17 Men's teams from across the country to compete for one national title. Within the top eight teams from the East is our very own Chicago Magic. Inaugural league action took place in Raleigh , NC , in conjunction with the Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) Shootout. The Magic boys were up to the task facing the very best teams from across the US with a 1-1-1 record giving them a tie for second within the division.

11/12/06 -- Joining the #1 club in the nation is easier than you think. Earning recognition as the #1 club in the nation is not as easy. Soccer America selects the top club based on three categories: (1) success in youth soccer championships; (2) the number of players who go on to play at higher levels, and (3) a survey of college coaches on the best club at developing and showcasing its players. Magic U17 Girls in Disney Showcase Flight
11/06/2006 -- Disney's Soccer Showcase presented by adidas has placed the Chicago Magic U17 Girl's in the top flight named the Showcase flights. The U15 and U16 Girl teams are also participating. This tournament is a premier soccer event with over 700 college coaches planning to attend. The fields are world-class, the competition is intense, and some of the best youth teams from across the U.S. will be participating. The Girl's competition will start on December 30th and finish January 2nd.
New Trier Finishes on Top
11/04/2006 -- Congratulations to Chicago Magic 90/91 players Ryan Foreman and Jordan Maman. These two sophomore players along with their teammates won the state high school title today with a 1-0 victory over Warren. "It's great for kids to play for their high schools and build lasting friendships. Many kids involved in other programs are not as fortunate to have this opportunity," said Mike Matkovich "I am sure that Ryan and Jordan will never forget this high school season or the friends that they have made."

Treats no Tricks for Magic MWRL Teams
10/31/2006 --The Midwest Regional League season featured round-robin play within a division filled with top teams from around the region. At the end of the season, the top finishing team automatically gains a berth to the 2007 USYS Regionals in Des Moines , Iowa. The Chicago Magic Girls 89/90's finished the fall season with a 7-1-2 record giving them the league title and punching their ticket to Regionals. Similarily the Magic Boys U14's also participated in the MWRL fall season. Their ranking secured them a slot within the 2007 Spring U-14 Premier Division. Winning this Spring season would also qualify the boys for an automatic berth to Regionals.
Boot Room Program is a Kick!
10/25/2006 -- Chicago Magic Soccer Club teams have won a total of eleven national championships, twenty Region II championships and seventy-five Illinois state cup championships. While this in itself may be impressive, it goes far beyond winning soccer games. As part of respecting the game itself, and with the help of several Magic family donations, the Magic just delivered its first shipment of 56 indoor and outdoor soccer boots to Chicago Inner City Programs. The Boot Room is a continuous program that the Magic is proud to sponsor. At the Chicago Magic Soccer Club, we believe that helping underprivileged youth play is an important challenge in youth soccer. We thank you for helping us meet that challenge. Magic Players and Coach Included in Interregional ODP Events
10/20/2006 -- Top national talent will converge for the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program Boys Thanksgiving Interregional. The 1990 age group will also have the opportunity to compete in the adidas Super Group at the Disney Soccer Showcase from December 27-30 featuring a showcase of matches between U.S. Soccer U-17 Men's National Team and three international teams. Rosters for the event were released and included the following Magic players: 1990 Kevin Bick and Brendan King; 1991 Harrison Petts; 1992 Jacob Bushue, AJ Corrado, and Perry Kitchen. Mike Matkovich will also represent the Magic as a 1990 Region II ODP coach.
The USYS ODP Girls Thanksgiving Interregional will also be represented with a standout Magic player. Proudly representing the Magic girls program will be Whitney Sharpe for the 1990 age group.
Elite Club Development in America and Europe
10/20/2006 -- Magic Coach Mike Matkovich will be presenting at the second annual three-day seminar specifically targeted at Club Directors and Coaches from the USA and Europe. Magic Alum Called into U20 National Team
10/12/2006 -- U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team under head coach Thomas Rongen participated in a four day camp in Sunrise , Fla. The camp included a closed-door match against the Haiti Under-23 Men's National Team on October 12th. The US earned the victory with a 5-1 score with Chicago Magic Alum and Galaxy midfielder, Quavas Kirk playing the entire match.
Magic U17 Boys to Play in Red Bull National League
10/11/2006 -- Energy drink manufacturer Red Bull is sponsoring the National League that was devised over the past year by the directors of a number of leading elite youth soccer clubs in the U.S which includes our own, Mike Matkovich. The inaugural version of the league will be divided into two regions with the Chicago Magic playing in the East. The team will play each of the other 7 teams in their Region with the semi-final and final games being played at Chicago Magic's Best of the Midwest event. Becoming a champion of the league will earn the victors a flight to New York to play the Red Bulls U17 team, plus a training session under New York head coach former U.S. National Team coach Bruce Arena.
9th Annual Magic Awards Banquet Date Announced
10/10/2006 -- Save the date for another exciting evening with a special guest of the Chicago Fire and various recognition including: Team Administrator, Team MVP, Player of the Year, Family of the Year, Supporter of the Year and Hall of Fame Inductees. The 9 th annual banquet will again be held at Georgio's in Orland Park on Monday, April 23rd. Please save the date and plan on joining us.
SYL ODP National Camp Selections Include 55 Magic Players
10/02/2006 -- Forty-one Magic players have been selected to compete in elite identification camps for U.S. National Team Programs and Colleges, while fourteen were placed as alternates. United Soccer Leagues announced the final selections for the Super Y-League's ODP National Camps which will be held at the Cocoa Expo Center in Cocoa , Florida in January and February of 2007. US U17 National Team Coach John Hackworth was quoted saying, "USL is a contributing factor to the success of the professional development of players involved in the national teams."
Midwest Regional League Action
10/01/2006 -- The Chicago Magic U14 boys scored four times in their Midwest Regional League game on Sunday. The boys now stand at 12 points in the U14 southwest division with a 4-1-0 record. This places the boys in second place with a game in hand. The Magic U17 girls now control their destiny with two wins this past week. The girls beat the Michigan Hawks 2-1 and the Michigan Gators 1-0. Their record allows them to stand atop the division in first place.
