Chicago Magic Alums Named to World Cup Futsal Team

09/30/2008 -- U.S. Futsal National Team head Coach Keith Tozer has named a squad of 14 players for the upcoming FIFA Futsal World Cup in Brazil . The squad includes two Chicago Magic alums in Brett Wiesner and Andy Rosenband. The U.S. has been drawn into Group B of the tournament, and kicks off its campaign today against Paraguay. The U.S. also faces Italy on Oct. 2 and Thailand on Oct. 4, before rounding out group play on Oct. 6 against Portugal.

Kohl's Fall Best of the Midwest Girl's Recap

09/28/2008 -- The Fall tournament was held in incredible weather and on great fields! Our Chicago Magic girl's did not disappoint either. All Chicago Magic girls' teams were vying for play off spots on the last day of the tournament. The U15 and U17 girl's teams advanced without losing a game and both ended with the championship trophies in their arms. The U17's were first to claim the top prize with a 2-0 win over the Illinois Fusion and then the U15's finished the day with a 2-0 victory over the Hoffman United Rockets. Congratulations to Coach Fonfara and all the girls!

Kohl's Fall Best of the Midwest Final Girl's Schedule Announced

09/25/2008 -- The Fall tournament is this weekend and we have now released our final schedule, please view it here before coming out to your first game. The weather this weekend will be outstanding! You can start the process of joining the Chicago Magic by attending one of our upcoming tryout sessions.

Kohl's Fall Best of the Midwest Schedules Announced

09/10/2008 -- The Fall tournaments are drawing near with the schedules being announced for both the boys and girls Kohl's Fall Best of the Midwest tournaments. These tournaments have traditionally been one of the premier youth tournaments in the USA . The tournaments are hosted at the Hallmark Convention and Sports Complex in Hebron , Indiana on some of the premier fields in the Midwest . Teams are encouraged to PRE-REGISTER to save on the Friday drive and waiting time in lines.

World Cup Qualifying News

09/09/2008 -- After collecting a vital six points from two away matches and snatching the lead in Group 1, the U.S. returns to home soil for the first time in the Semifinal Round of qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup when they host Trinidad & Tobago on September 10 , 2008, in Bridgeview , IL . Kickoff for the U.S. Men's National Team, which includes Chicago Magic's very own Brad Guzan is set for 7:00 PM, and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and Galavision.

Midwest Regional League Continues

09/08/2008 -- The Chicago Magic U17 girls continued their march onto first place of the Premier division by beating last year's regional finalist, Vardar 1-0 and tying FC Milwaukee . The 15 girls began their campaign to re-enter the Premier division with two solid victories of 3-0 and 4-1. On the Chicago Magic boy's side the U14 boys are now 0-1-2 with ties against Blue valley and KC Black Star . The U14's lone loss came at the hands of the KC Wizards.

Pre-Season All American Selections

09/04/2008 -- College Soccer News has selected their pre-season All American Teams. The Chicago Magic Soccer Club is represented by two Magic Alumni with Brad Ring being named to the first team, while Ofori Sarkodie was selected to the second team. Congratulations to them both!

Danny Cunniff Wrap-Up

08/25/2008 -- The Chicago Magic Soccer Club began its fall season with the Danny Cunniff tournament in Highland Park , Illinois which is hosted by our partner club the Chicago Wind . The teams found great weather and competition during the weekend. The U12 boys reached the championship game and lost to the Chicago Wind. The U10 girls took the championship trophy home with 24 overall points. Good luck to all teams as they begin their fall seasons.

Midwest Regional League Begins

08/24/2008 -- The Chicago Magic U17 girls began play in the Midwest Regional League. The weekend began with a 2-1 win over Waunakee Blaze of Wisconsin and ended with a 0-0 draw with the Hawks Black 92 from Michigan . The girls are currently in second place in the Premier division.

Northern Illinois Soccer League

08/23/2008 -- Fall soccer play will begin for the Chicago Magic this year with league games in the Northern Illinois Soccer League. The Chicago Magic teams return to the league after reaching agreement with the league, partners and its ownership.

Harris Goes To National ODP Camp

08/06/2008 -- Congratulations to Chicago Magic standout forward, Corinne Harris and twenty three other girls from the Region II Girls Olympic Development Program. These players were invited into the U.S. Soccer Federations U14 National Development Camp in Pomona , CA which was held on July 27 th and ran until August 2 nd . The girls experienced great weather, fields and camaraderie while continuing to showcase their talents and abilities.

Teams Punch Tickets To Super Y League Nationals

08/05/2008 -- Several Chicago magic teams have qualified for the Super Y League National finals in Tampa , Florida . Qualifying for the boy's side were the U13, U14 and U15 teams, while on the girl's side the U16 are preparing for the finals. The U13 and U15 boys' qualified by taking first place in their divisions while the U14 boys held second place. The U16 girls can take the division crown with a win this Saturday.

US Club Nationals Recap

08/04/2008 -- The Chicago Magic U17 girl's team took to the field for the last time this season at the US Club Nationals at Virginia Beach . Although the girls didn't end up on the right side of the scoreboard, the girls should remain very proud of their accomplishments and the college coaches there knew it too. Several college coaches lined up and watched the three games while writing in their notepads. In fact several returned to continue watching the team's talent. Congratulations to the girls!

Chicago Magic U16 Academy Team End Victorious

07/20/2008 -- The Chicago Magic U16 Academy won their final game in Carson , California against LAFC ending the inaugural academy league season. The game went the distance and took penalties to decide the winner. Keeping the boys in the match was the superlative play between the posts from Chicago Magic keeper, Tom Serratore. The Magic keeper came up big in the 66 th minute with a dramatic penalty kick save, about ten minutes later Tom again stopped a shot from point blank range keeping the slate clean. "Tom represented the club, his team and himself well, not only today but this whole week." said head coach Sole Antonijevic, "I was proud of him and the entire team for how they played this week."

Kevin Bick Selected for U18 USYNT

07/18/2008 -- On July 27 th , Chicago Magic Academy player, Kevin Bick and 17 other standouts will be flying together to Montevideo , Uruguay representing the U18 Youth National team. All of the games in Uruguay will be played in Flores where they will be playing in an international tournament with Uruguay , Paraguay and Venezuela . After the tournament the U18's will head to Buenos Aires , Argentina where they will play another match before heading back to the States on August 7 th . It's winter in Uruguay and Argentina right now, so the players may have to pack some gloves, scarves and hats!

Nowak Names Roster for 2008 Olympic Games

07/17/2008 -- U.S. Men's Olympic Team head coach Peter Nowak named 18 players who will represent the United States at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Nowak has enlisted three-time World Cup veteran McBride as one of three overage players, along with Chicago Magic Standout Goalkeeper, Brad Guzan a nd defender Michael Parkhurst.

Mid-America Conference Starting XI's and Coaches of the Year Announced

07/16/2008 -- The Development Academy Conference Starting XI squads and Coaches of the Year were announced this afternoon during the fourth day of Finals Week at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California. Congratulations to David Caban, Connor Holloway and Harrison Shipp for making the U-15/16 Mid-America Starting XI with Sole Antonijevic being named Coach of the Year. On the U-17/18 Mid-America side, congratulations go to Kevin Bick and Christian Meza for being named to the starting XI.

Chicago Magic U16 Academy Team Undefeated in National Final Pool Play

07/16/2008 -- Following three days of competition, the group stage has completed for the U16 age group at the Development Academy Finals. The Chicago Magic U16 Academy team went undefeated in group pool play. Their three draws place them in the 5 th /6 th place match which will take place on July 19 th and can also be viewed LIVE on ESPNU. The boys will take on LAFC in their final match of the week.

Guzan Headed to Aston Villa!!!

07/12/2008 -- English Premiership club Aston Villa has agreed on a fee for Chivas USA and Chicago Magic alum goalkeeper, Brad Guzan. The 24 year old U.S. international will complete this move once he earns a work permit. Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill finally landed the 6 foot 4 inch keeper who was voted the top shot-stopper in the MLS last season.

Magic Represented by Seven at adidas ESP

07/10/2008 -- adidas ESP is the most recognizable development program today and continues to create, inspire and enable the elite soccer youth of America . Through its sanctioning from U.S. Youth Soccer, adidas ESP is an official event within the Olympic Development Program. adidas invited seven Chicago Magic players based on the recommendations of a highly-regarded scouting network. Representing the Magic were Jacob Bushue, David Caban, Art Garza, Billy McGuinness, Christopher Meingast, Jesse Ortiz, and Harrison Shipp. An added congratulation goes to David Caban for being named to the adidas ESP All-Star team!

U17 Girls at National Cup!

07/07/2008 -- The Chicago Magic 90/91 girl's team will travel to Virginia Beach for the US Club National Cup Finals, July 26-29. The games will take place at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex, which features 19 fields with Tifway Bermuda grass and at the Princess Anne Athletic Complex with seven soccer fields, two of which are lighted. The girls earned entry to the finals by beating Ohio Elite 1-0 in the regional championship.

Best of the Midwest Registrations Accepted

07/04/2008 -- KOHL's Fall Best of the Midwest tournament applications are now being accepted for both boys and girls through August 12, 2008. Come join a tournament that has traditionally been touted as one of the premier youth tournaments in the USA . This tournament is hosted at the Hallmark Convention and Sports Complex in Hebron , Indiana on some of the premier fields in the Midwest.

Chicago Magic U16 Academy Headed to Home Depot Center !

07/01/2008 -- The Chicago Magic U16's clinched a spot in the U.S. Soccer Academy finals with a 2-2 draw in their final match against Chivas USA . Scoring for the Magic were Art Garza and Dylan Mares. "I am very proud of the boys." said Academy Head Coach Sole Antonijevic, "They are playing the kind of soccer you would expect of a team reaching the finals." On the U18 side, the boys could also earn a trip to California with a tie or victory by Scott Gallagher and a Magic win in each of their final games.

Magic Girls Headed to Virginia Beach !

07/01/2008 -- The Indianapolis , Indiana US Club regional is now over with the Chicago Magic U17 girls claiming the region champion title! Kristen Windecker scored the winning goal over Ohio Elite in a 1-0 victory. The U16 girls came up just short in their final losing to Windy City Pride. On the boys side the U15's lost a penalty kick shootout in semi final action against Bangu of Minnesota. Good luck to the U17 girls at the National Cup Finals in Virginia Beach!
