Chicago Magic U19's Advance to Nationals!
06/28/2007 -- The storied Chicago Magic team, now Under-19 Boys continue their rich tradition as they defeated MYSC Blue (WI), 2-0 to advance. A five-time regional champion, the team has been together since they were Under-13s and coach John Hannan thought this year's championship final highlighted great soccer on both sides, "It was a clean, fun game and it was all about playing soccer. It was a great championship environment for both teams." Also of note were the Chicago Magic U16 boys and U17 girls who both advanced to the finals but losing in their final match. Gold Cup is Magic!
06/24/2007 -- The U.S. Men's National claim their fourth all-time CONCACAF Gold Cup championship. There with the joyous team was Magic's standout goal keeper Brad Guzan. The win punches the teams ticket to the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup, an eight-team tournament staged in South Africa one year before the 2010 World Cup.
Chicago Magic to Participate in U.S. Soccer Development Academy
06/26/2007 -- Twenty one teams have now been accepted into USSF Academy League including the number one club in the nation, the Chicago Magic. Director of Coaching Michael Matkovich said "The Club has positioned themselves to become an integral part of the new US Soccer Federation Youth Academy network". The focus of the league will be on player development with up to 80 of the top youth soccer clubs in the United States participating. Competitively the network will be divided into regions with each team playing between 30 and 38 home and away matches during an eight-month season.
U15 National Camp in New Jersey
06/20/2007 -- A group of thirty six 1992 birth year players are performing under pressure this week at the final camp before selection of players for the U17 National Residency program in Bradenton. Florida . The players are under the watchful eyes of head coach Jim Barlow and assistants Tony Lepore, Charlie Inverso, (Chicago Magic DOC) Mike Matkovich and Gerry McKeown, plus U14 BNT head coach Manny Schellscheidt who lives in the area. One of the players being looked at is standout Chicago Magic player Perry Kitchen. Perry has attended every national camp since U14 and hopes this will lead to an offer of residency.
U17 Mens National Team in Korea
06/19/2007 -- The U.S. Under-17 '90 Men's National Team is participating in the 8 Nations International Tournament in Changwon, South Korea . The U.S. team includes two Chicago Magic standouts in Brendan King and Josh Lambo. The side will use this tournament as a warm-up for the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup also in South Korea , which will take place from August 18-September 9.
Watermelon Tastes Sweet!
06/18/2007 -- The Chicago Magic Soccer Club had a SWEET weekend. Many of our younger teams participated in Rockford 's Watermelon tournament which was held over Father's day weekend. Two Chicago Magic teams gave their fathers an extra special gift that day. The CMSC boys U10's started the day with a 7-2 victory over the Croatian Eagles and the CMSC boys U12's ended the day with a 2-1 win over the Elm Grove Fire Juniors. Congratulations to both teams!
State Cup Wins Bring Additional Tryouts
06/18/2007 -- The Chicago Magic office has been inundated with calls from people all over Chicago-land inquiring on how to become part of the Chicago Magic soccer club . Additional dates have now been added to accommodate the recent phone calls because of all the Illinois State Cup victories. The following supplemental tryout dates have been added. Tryouts for the upcoming Fall/Spring 2007/2008 season will be held at our Lewis location in Romeoville , Illinois . U14 through U19 from 7:00-9:00 PM each day beginning on Monday, June 18 through Thursday, June 21.

06/14/2007 - The Chicago Magic won many state cups this season and while this in itself may be impressive, it goes far beyond winning soccer games. Chicago Magic Soccer Club was founded with a vision solely focused on developing young players to the best of their abilities. The club is committed to promoting camaraderie among its "family". The teams all know that being a champion today does not guarantee being a champion tomorrow.
Lucky Number SEVEN
06/14/2007 -- As we recently announced the Chicago Magic is sending SEVEN teams to USYS Regionals in Des Moines, Iowa. But SEVEN does seem to still keep popping up. There is a team within the Chicago Magic that has worn the Illinois State Cup crown for SEVEN consecutive years. That's right, since 2001 the Chicago Magic 87/88 boy's team has won every state cup title. SEVEN seems to be the club's lucky number this year!

06/11/2007 -- The Chicago Magic will be sending SEVEN teams to regionals this year. The regional finals are a culmination of a series of matches at state levels from across the region. The US Youth Soccer Region II Championships will provide our SEVEN Chicago Magic teams the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the region. Action begins on June 22 and ends on June 27. Good luck to all SEVEN teams going to Des Moines, Iowa !
Adding it all up 77-78-79-80-81
06/10/2007 -- The Chicago Magic today added more hardware to their trophy case. A total of five state cup titles were won today. The U18 boys started the day with a 2-0 victory ( 77) over the Chicago Wind, and then were followed up with a 2-1 win from the U17 boys when they beat (78) Rockford Raptors. The U16 boys playing without their keeper lost in pk's to the Sockers FC 3-2. The U15 boys were up next with a solid 2-0 win (79) against the Lightning. The final boys match of the day ended with a U19 win (80) over the Sockers FC in a 2-1 pk victory. On the girls side, the U17's (81) beat the Windy City Pride 2-1 with goals scored by Carly Samp and Jill Dunn.
Magic Adds Another State Cup Crown!
06/04/2007 -- The Chicago Magic U13 Girls added another Illinois State Cup title to the club's records. This one is number 76. The girls overcame a 1-0 deficit by scoring three unanswered goals over Team Chicago. Congratulations to the girls and to coach Scott Fonfara!

06/03/2007 -- The Chicago Magic U13 and U14 boys made valiant runs at the title but came up just short losing in semi-final action. Also eliminated this week were the Chicago Magic U18 II's. This leaves the Chicago Magic with eight teams alive in State Cup action. Boy's teams include U15, U16, U17, U18, and U19. On the Girl's side the U15, U16 and U17 remain in action. Magic Lends a Helping Hand
05/31/2007 -- The Chicago Magic's Alan Bickel and Andy Masteller helped coach a National Sports Center for the Disabled soccer program. The program positively impacted the lives of Chicago land people attending with a physical or mental challenge. The Magic was one of three clubs who supported this adaptive recreation program.
Golden Bull Awarded to Magic Player
May 30, 2007 -- Red Bull National League 17 awarded its first 'Golden Bull' trophy, symbolizing the Red Bull National League's top regular-season goal scorer. The prize went to Chicago Magic striker Christian Mesa, who scored a cumulative six goals throughout the tournament.
Magic's Own Named to 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup Roster
May 30, 2007 -- U.S. Men's National Team head coach Bob Bradley has named the 23-man roster that will seek to defend their CONCACAF Gold Cup title in the 2007 edition of the tournament that takes place from June 6-24 in six cities across the U.S. Included on the roster is Magic alum, Brad Guzan. In addition Brad will be part of the U.S. Men's National Team match that takes on China on June 2 in San Jose , California.
Best of the Midwest Complete
05/29/2007 -- The Spring Best of the Midwest has again concluded with many new champions. All teams are thanked for their understanding as we rescheduled Saturday afternoon games to Monday morning and the movement of Monday's games to later times. The Magic teams sent 9 teams to semi finals, 5 teams to the finals, with 3 named as champions.

Magic Pre-season Camp Announced
05/18/2007 -- The Chicago Magic have announced their pre-season soccer camp. The camp will take place at the Hallmark Sports Club in Frankfort, Illinois from August 13 through August 17. This team camp is for all of our Chicago Magic Soccer Club teams to train hard together for one full week before starting the Fall Season. This team camp cannot be made mandatory; however, we encourage all players to attend as we prepare for the upcoming Fall season. This camp is very important to our club's success by keeping us one step ahead of the rest.
U16 Boys Punch Ticket to Regionals!
05/14/2007 -- The Chicago Magic U16 boys will join the U17 girls in this years Regionals in Des Moines, Iowa . The U16 boys have guaranteed their spot through Midwest Regional League action. This will be the fourth year in a row that the boys have played at Regionals. The girls likewise have secured their spot through Regional League action and are on their fifth straight trip to Regionals.
From Magic to College!
05/08/2007 -- Several Chicago Magic girl players commit to colleges. Scott Fonfara, Girls Director of Coaching said, "It is great to see a number of our players get placed into great academic and athletic programs at universities across the country. I've known many of these girls for a long time and this is a credit to them and their families for putting in the hard work."
Spring Kick-Off Classic Shows Continued Success
05/07/2007 -- The U11B, U12B, U13B and U13G all held the championship crown making this the second tournament in a row for these Magic teams. Recap of championship matches are as follows: U11B beat Peoria 2-0, U12B beat Morton Blaze 4-1, U13B beat Madison 56ers 4-0 and the U13G beat U14G SC Waukesha 1-0. Additionally the U18B division was a Magic vs. Magic final with Magic Silver earning the crown in a 1-0 victory.
U15 National Team Ends Argentina Tour
05/06/2007 -- The U15 Boys National Team finished the Argentinean tour with a 2-1 victory over professional youth side Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata. Overall, the side finished with two wins, one loss and one tie. The earlier win came versus Boca Juniors in a 3-0 result, the tie versus the Argentina National Team at 2-2, and their loss in a nail biter versus Uruguay at 2-1. Coach Jim Barlow's side includes Magic's very own, Perry Kitchen. "It's really exciting to be a young soccer player in the US right now. A lot of these guys are thinking in what is coming next, because this is a big transition to the National team and the Residency program. We will be very happy to recommend most of them to the next level," said assistant coach Tony Lepore.
CIS Tourney Crowns Four Magic Champions
05/04/2007 -- The Chicago Magic Soccer Club had an exciting weekend of soccer in Bloomington , Illinois . A total of four Magic teams were holding the championship trophy at the end of the tournament. Recap of championship matches are as follows: U11B beat CIS 3-0, U12B beat Rockford Raptors 2-0, U13B beat Lou Fusz 5-0, and the U13G beat U14G Windy City Pride 5-2.

Blue Chip Recap
05/01/2007 -- The adidas Blue Chip Showcase Tournament is one of the truly exclusive showcases of U-17 talent. This year, it attracted in excess of 170 college coaches from throughout the country. The Magic U17 boys were victorious in all three of their matches. Beating WPS McLean 3-2, Atlanta Fire 4-0 and Dallas Texans 2-1.
