Two Chicago Magic Alumni are called to the Home Depot Center
12/22/2005 -- U.S. Men's National Team manager Bruce Arena has named 30 players to the training camp roster that will begin workouts Jan. 4 at the National Training Center in Carson , Calif. The group will prepare for a series of friendlies to take place in January and February. Included in this group are Magic Alumni Brad Guzan and Ricardo Clark. Brad Guzan is one of five players making a debut with the full USMNT. Click here for more.
Nation's Top Boys and Girls Invited for US National Team Player Identification
12/21/2005 -- The top players in the USL Super Y-League will come together in Cocoa, Florida for the 2006 Olympic Development Program National Camps. In addition to the USL Super Y-League ODP Staff, U.S. Soccer National Team Staff will be present to identify players for US National Team Programs. Many collegiate coaches throughout the United States will also be present to search for prospects for their programs. 50+ Chicago Magic players are participating in this national event. In addition to the competitive schedule for player identification, leading experts in sports psychology and fitness training will also be present to provide players education in these fields to further their development in the game.
Elite Club Development in America and Europe
12/14/2005 - Coach Mike Matkovich will be presenting at a three-day seminar specifically targeted at Club Directors and Coaches from the USA and Europe. The focus of this spectacular event will be: . How to identify and develop the elite young soccer players of tomorrow. . How successful soccer clubs and programs of excellence compare in America and Europe. . How different player development philosophies affect the success of the club and the player. Joining Coach Matko will be John Hackworth, U17 National Team Head Coach, John McDermott, Academy Director of Tottenham Hotspur, and many others. To learn more.

12/14/2005 - Just a friendly reminder that there will be no practice/training from Monday, December 19th thru the New Year. Practice will resume as usual on Monday January 2nd. All scheduled league play at the Odeum and Sportsclub will continue during this period however.
Disney Showcase Preview
12/13/2005 -- Disney's Soccer Showcase presented by Adidas is a premier soccer event, with world-class fields and intense competition against some of the best youth teams from across the US. The Magic are sending the 16Boys, 17Boys, 18Boys, 15Girls, and 16Girls with the hopes of exposing our talent to the over 500 attending college coaches. The Boys' competition will start on December 27th and finish December 30th. From December 30th to January 2nd will be the Girls' competition. The split format between the Boys and Girls allows more teams the opportunity to experience the exhilaration of Disney's Soccer Showcase presented by Adidas.
Final Four Showcase Recap
12/13/2005 -- The 17Boys recently competed at the Adidas Final Four Showcase in Cary, North Carolina, beating Sisco Flames (AZ) 2-0 and tying host club CASL (NC) 1-1. In college showcase tournaments, such as the Final Four and Disney Showcase, the emphasis is more on exposing players to college coaches rather than winning. Regardless, the 17Boys played very well and should be complimented on their efforts.
Member of Magic Family will be Missed
12/9/2005 -- Last night Matko's father, a dear member of our Magic family, passed away. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations be made to the Michael George Matkovich Scholarship Fund through the Southland Athletic Association in his memory. Visitation will be at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 19604 Wold Road, Mokena, IL 60448 from 2:00 until 9:00 this Sunday, December 11th. Funeral is on Monday at 9:30 from the funeral home to St. Mary's in Mokena at 10:00. Interment is private.
2005 ODP Select Teams announced from SYL Finals
12/5/2005 -- United Soccer Leagues has announced the ODP Select Teams for the 2005 Super Y- League North American Finals that concluded on November 22nd with 10 champions being crowned. The SYL North American Finals ODP Select Teams each feature a goalkeeper, three defenders, four midfielders and three forwards as voted on by team coaches after the conclusion of each game of the tournament. Congratulations to the following players from the Chicago Magic Soccer Club! Chicago Magic U15 Girls Crowned National Champions
U14 & U17 Boys Finish with 2nd Place Honors
11/22/2005 -- The Chicago Magic, who were the top overall club on the inaugural First 11 club rankings for the Super Y-League in early October, saw just one of three finalists capture a Super Y league National title today. The U15 Girls claimed the championship in penalties 3-0 against the Spokane Shadow after a scoreless draw. In addition to the U14 Boys 1-0 loss to De Anza, the U17 Boys were downed by Storm Academy 2-0. "This team has been together for a long time and continues to develop," said CMSC Coach Scott Fonfara. "I am very proud of them and what they have accomplished."
Chicago Magic to appear on Fox Soccer Channel
11/22/2005 -- The Super Y-League Finals broadcast will be Saturday, December 3 at 8:00 pm ET on Fox Soccer Channel. The show will feature the CMSC U16 Boys along with interviews from MLS Director of Player Development Alfonso Mondelo, MetroStars Director of Youth Development and former USL star Giovanni Savarese.
11/13/2005 -- The LA Galaxy today became the third team in MLS history to complete the domestic double - winning the MLS Cup and U.S. Open Cup in the same year. D.C. United performed the feat in the inaugural season of 1996, then two years later the Chicago Fire did it in their first season.
