Magic Gears Up For Finals!

10/29/2007 -- As the high school season comes to a close, Magic players begin training this week for the Super Y-League North American Finals. The finals, a five-day tournament with over 130 of the best youth soccer teams in the US and Canada, are regarded as the top youth soccer event in North America. The Chicago Magic current U16, U17 girl's, U14, U16, and U18 boy's teams will face the best from around North America in a quest to become league champions. The 2006 SYL finals crowned three Magic teams as champions. This year's event will begin on Thursday, November 15th with championship matches scheduled for Tuesday, November 20th.

Magic U18 Girls Win Midwest Regional League

10/27/2007 -- The Chicago Magic 89/90 Girls team finished in the top spot of the Premier division with a 3-0 victory over the Michigan Gators today. The girls completed the season with a 6-0-3 record qualifying them for USYS Regionals in Rockford , Illinois. The U16 Girls have also qualified for the Spring Midwest Regional League Premier Girls division with a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Sockers yesterday also giving them the crown in their league. Congrats to both teams!

Magic U14 Boys Win Midwest Regional League

10/21/2007 -- The Chicago Magic 93/94 Boys team clinched the top spot in the Northwest Red division with a 1-0 victory over the Chicago Wind today. The boys finished the season with a 5-1 record qualifying them for the Spring Midwest Regional League Premier Boys division. The U14 Girls have also qualified for the Spring Midwest Regional League Premier Girls divison. Congrats to both teams!

Brad Guzan Earns Two Honors For Chivas USA

10/20/2007 -- Chicago Magic alum Brad Guzan enjoyed a breakout season in goal for Chivas USA and giving him the Honda MVP crown. Currently Guzan leads MLS with 12 shutouts and is second in the league with a goals-against average (GAA) of 0.96. The emerging U.S. National Team player's timely interventions throughout Chivas USA 's season have been fundamental to the team's success this year. Additionally, Brad earned the U.S. Soccer Foundation Humanitarian of the Year. During 2007, Brad Guzan was featured in number of important Public Service Announcements, including an American Cancer Society PSA promoting cancer awareness and an American Red Cross PSA encouraging Latinos to donate blood. In addition, Guzan has partnered with AbilityFirst, a Southern California-based organization offering services to persons with disabilities.

Josh Lambo Headed To France With U18 National Team

10/19/2007 -- The U.S. U18 Men's National Team will travel to Limoges, France from October 27 to November 4 to participate in the 2007 Limoges Tournament. U.S. U20 head coach Thomas Rongen, who will be leading the team as part of early preparations for the 2009 FIFA Under-20 World Cup, has named an 18-player roster made up of players born in 1990 and 1991 including Chicago Magic standout goalkeeper Josh Lambo.

New Club Added to Magic Family!

10/18/2007 -- The Chicago Magic Soccer Club is nationally known for its philosophy of being solely focused on developing young players to the best of their abilities and for Soccer America naming the Club the number one boys club in the nation for three consecutive years. The Magic continues to offer youth soccer players an opportunity to compete at the international, national and local levels including the new US Soccer Federation Youth Academy. While this in itself may be impressive, it goes beyond accumulating hardware and national headlines. The Magic is seeking to affliate with a very limited amount of clubs and are now proud to announce the Wildcats Futbol Club of Northwest Indiana has been completely absorbed by the Chicago Magic. Chicago Magic's Director of Coaching Mike Matkovich will be bringing in Nathan Pitcock as full-time Director to help with the Indiana Operations.

US Soccer Q&A with Magic Alum, Quavas Kirk

10/12/2007 -- Ussoccer.com talked with Chicago Magic alum, Quavas Kirk about the new Development Academy that the Chicago Magic is participating in. The Development Academy Program didn't exist when Quavas Kirk was playing with the Chicago Magic. "I wish it was," says Kirk. The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder knows the Academy environment - such as meaningful training and quality matches - is modeled after U.S. Soccer Residency Program, which he was involved in for two years, and was a huge help in him jumping to the pros at such a young age.

Development Academy Fall Showcase

10/11/2007 -- The The U.S. Soccer Development Academy hosted its first Academy Fall Showcase last weekend at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California . Thirty-six teams from 18 elite clubs joined two U.S. Youth National Teams including Chicago Magic standout, Perry Kitchen who helped the US to victory in the showcase.

Midwest Regional League Action

10/10/2007 -- The U14 Boys are sitting atop the Northwest Red Division with a 3-0 record. The boys will continue through their schedule with matches this weekend. The U14 Girls are assured of a top three finish with a 4-0 record. Their standing will allow them to participate in the Premier Division next spring. The U16 Girls are sitting with a 2-0-1 record with 5 games to play. The U18 Girls currently have a record of 3-0-1 in the Premier Division.

WAG's Recap

10/09/2007 -- The U16 Girls are making the most of their visit to east coast. WAG's is the premier tournament for girls. In pool play the U16's did very well winning all three of their games with an aggregate score of 6-2. This allowed them to meet Gilbert Soccer Club of Arizona in the semi's which they won with a 2-1 score. The final pitted them against a team from New York , the Albertson Fury Soccer Club. The girls did a fine job but came up just short with a 1-0 loss.

Midwest Wings Fall Classic Recap

10/08/2007 -- The Midwest Wings Fall Classic took place with un-seasonably hot weather. Two Magic teams were just as hot! The U13 Girls and the U11 Boys both were crowned champions. The U15 Girls came close but lost in the finals.

Metro United Boys Fall Classic Recap

10/07/2007 -- The U12 Boys team participated in the Metro United tournament in Edwardsville , IL . The Chicago Magic U12's won all three of their pool play games easily but ran into trouble in the semi's against SASA United losing 3-2.

2007 Boys Soccer Player of the Year

10/03/2007 -- The Chicago Sun-Times and Soccer Writer Joe Trost took a look at an initial pool of candidates with the start of the state high school playoffs only days away. Joe named 7 players with possibly more to come as the action heats up this month. This year's candidates include two Chicago Magic players with Dundee Crown's Christian Meza and Lincoln-Way Central's Phil Galounis named to the short list of players.

Kohl's Fall Girls Best of the Midwest Recap

10/02/2007 -- The Kohl's Fall Best of the Midwest tournament took place at the new fields of the Hallmark Convention and Sports Complex in Hebron , Indiana . And the weather cooperated also with sunshine and pleasant temperatures. The U14 Girls won the event with a 1-0 win over the KCFC Heat. Both the U16 and U17 Girls lost in the semi's 1-0 to the eventual champions.

Tryouts Announced for Indoor Sessions

10/01/2007 -- The Chicago Magic Soccer Club has announced their upcoming tryouts. Joining the #1 club in the nation is easier than you think. Earning recognition as the #1 club in the nation is not as easy. Soccer America selects the top club based on three categories: (1) success in youth soccer championships; (2) the number of players who go on to play at higher levels, and (3) a survey of college coaches on the best club at developing and showcasing its players. You can start the process of joining the #1 club in the nation by coming to an upcoming tryout session.
